To the Reader - December 2025

I haven’t posted on the blog in over a month now, and I think these “To The Readers” will become more of a monthly occurrence than a biweekly one. There’s only so much “been writing, making X amount of progress on project ABC” before it gets really repetitive.

November’s silence was due to a few things. Partially the Thanksgiving weekend was really busy this year, hope yours was spent well! Another part due to joining my first pickleball rec league. (Yes, I know, but hey! It’s fun!) Playoff tournament is this weekend, hope to bring home the gold! Another is because I’ve landed more job interviews lately than I did through most of the year. As some of you may know, I graduated college in September, and so I’ve been on the job hunt since the beginning of the year, hoping to hit the ground running by graduation. However, the job market and economic trends being what they’ve been through 2025, it’s been tough sledding. Now, I’m not going on a diatribe about economics or policy influences and the like, because that’s not what this is, and, frankly, I don’t want to bring too much of that energy into my blog page, so I won’t speak on that further.

An unfortunate side effect of my job hunting struggles has been that my focus has been pulled away from writing, and in the times I’ve tried to get writing done, I’ve felt almost guilty for not job hunting instead. Insert balancing life and scheduling sermons here. But I’m still trying to think positively about these two areas of life, and the two projects I have on the desk, so to speak, are still on the brain, as well as the next couple. Now, yes, I’d love for writing to be my full-time job, but until I’m in that position, I’ve got to take some steps in that direction. Besides, the availability presents an opportunity to tell stories and foster a sense of creativity and community in ways I haven’t even considered or been previously aware of.

A short update for now, and with end of the year festivities just around the corner, likely the last one for 2025. Perhaps the first of 2026 will include a “Year in Review” kind of thing. So, to you Readers, have an incredibly happy holiday season, and best of luck in the new year!
